A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple tips to enjoy a cleaner burn, a longer-lasting candle, and the best fragrance experience from your Rustic Jar Co. candle.

The First Burn

The first burn is the most important! Allow your candle to burn for 2–3 hours, or until the entire top layer of wax has melted to the edges of the jar. This helps set the candle's "memory" and prevents tunneling, ensuring an even burn every time you light it.

Trim Your Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to ¼ inch. This helps create a clean, even flame while reducing smoke, soot, and excessive flickering.

Don't forget to remove any wick trimmings or debris from the wax before lighting your candle.

Burn Smart

For the best performance, burn your candle for at least one hour, but no longer than four hours at a time.

Always burn your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface and keep it away from drafts, fans, open windows, curtains, children, and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Know When to Stop

For safety, discontinue use when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. Burning beyond this point may cause the container to overheat.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Whenever possible, use a wick snuffer or gently place the lid on the jar to extinguish the flame. This helps minimize smoke and preserves the fragrance in your space.

Storing Your Candle

Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use, replace the lid to help protect the wax from dust while preserving the fragrance.
